Building Our Local Economy
A true revitalization of a city cannot occur without an energized local economy. We need to keep people living, working, and shopping right here in Troy.
As your elected representative, I will continue working hard to bring business back to Troy and create more living wage jobs.
As the Council's representative on the Troy Local Development Corporation, I have supported funding for various local businesses such as Minnisale's Wine Cellar Cafe, Bombers Burrito Bar, and Old World Provisions (formerly, Hembolds). These small businesses create jobs and are the economic backbone of our city. I will make sure that economic development is a priority, and I won't back down until we make real progress.
Part of my economic development plan includes a "Green Jobs and Clean Energy" initiative. By making our buildings more energy-efficient through LEED standardization, we can be more environmentally responsible, save taxpayers money, and bring more jobs to our city. Several of my running mates on the Democratic ticket are leaders in the field of sustainability and alternative energy, and I look forward to serving on a Council that makes green initiatives a priority.
